BREAKING: NIESV 2025: Sanwo-Olu pledges more affordable homes before end of tenure

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s strong dedication to advancing housing and urban development.

Speaking at the 31st Annual John Wood Ekpenyong Memorial Lecture and the 2025 Fellows Induction Ceremony of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), the Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made in housing development over the past five years and pledged to deliver additional affordable homes before the conclusion of his tenure.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the President and Chairman of the Council of NIESV, ESV. Victor Alonge, for the institution’s enduring collaboration with the Lagos State Government, which has been pivotal in advancing sustainable urban planning and development in the state.

He lauded NIESV’s substantial contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s real estate sector and the broader economy, emphasizing the importance of repositioning the administration of tenement rates, the central theme of this year’s lecture.

“The Lagos State Government is deeply committed to transforming the housing landscape, as we recognize its crucial role in enhancing the living conditions of our people,” Governor Sanwo-Olu remarked through his representative.

In recognition of his contributions to infrastructural development, the Governor was presented with a prestigious Award of Excellence by NIESV, a gesture he gratefully acknowledged.

He also extended his congratulations to the Senate President, Dr. Godswill Akpabio, who was conferred as an Honorary Fellow of NIESV, and to the 52 newly inducted Fellows, commending them for their outstanding contributions to the profession and national development.

The induction ceremony was graced by an array of distinguished personalities, including Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, other members of the National Assembly, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, as well as revered royal fathers and Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, who served as the Father of the Day.
