All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, Femi Fani Kayode and Bashir Ahmad, have told the British Conservatives Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, that Nigeria does not need image-making from her.
Naija News reported that Vice President Kashim Shettima accused Bednoch of denigrating the country of her origin.
In response, a spokesperson to the Conservative leader, quoted by the Cable, said Kemi was not interested in projecting the image of the country other than telling the truth.
“Kemi is not interested in doing Nigeria’s PR; she is the leader of the opposition in the UK.
“She tells the truth. She tells it like it is. She’s not going to couch her words, and she stands by what she says,” she said.
Responding to Kemi, former Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, advised the Nigerian-Bristish to desist from “dragging” the country of her origin.
He added that Nigeria already has Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Amina J. Mohammed and Dr. Akin Adesina, giving the country good public relations.
“Nigeria doesn’t need her PR, and no one is pushing her to do so, as Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Hajiya Amina J. Mohammed, Dr. Akin Adesina, and many more are already doing more than enough for Nigeria and Africa. If she really believes in her chosen country, she should stop dragging us along and find other ways to get the needed validation from her masters,” he said.
On his part, former Minister of Aviation, Fani-Kayode, advised Kemi to change her Yoruba name.
“No you are not & neither do we need or want you to. You are however doing PR for the racist, fascist scum that constitutes the far right wing of your adopted country. Do us a favour by shutting your foul mouth, dropping ‘Kemi’ as your name & changing it to ‘Aunty Jemimah’ instead (sic),” Kayode wrote.
