(BREAKING) #NigeriaDecides2023: INEC Suspends Collation Of Election Results In Rivers

The Collation Officer for the presidential election in Rivers State, Prof Teddy Charles Adias, has adjourned collation indefinitely, over an alleged threat to his life and family.

Prof Adias, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa state, claimed that the death threats and calls he received are from members of the Labour Party (LP)

Despite appeals from stakeholders including assurances from the police for him to conclude the process, Adias adjourned the Election collation in Rivers indefinitely.

“Until INEC addresses my concerns, the collation stands adjourned. There is a misconception about my role in the process. They are posting on social media, calling and texting that I’m the man who is rigging Rivers state elections”, Adias said on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the LP, Peter Obi is leading in 21 LGAs election results so far declared by the State Collation Officer

Obi, who has won only five of the 21 LGAs, has polled 170,052 votes ahead of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC, who has won 13 LGAs and polled 148,977 votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has so far secured 83,966 votes.

Results for Degema and Obio/Akpor LGAs are being awaited.
