BREAKING: Nigerian Governor Extends Public Holiday for Civil Servants over Christmas, New Year

Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has announced an extension of the Christmas and New Year holidays for the state’s workforce.

The disclosure was made in a statement on Wednesday, December 25.

According to the statement, the extended holiday period will begin on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, and end on Sunday, January 6, 2025.

Governor Alia praised the dedication and commitment of the state’s workforce, stating that their efforts have been instrumental in driving the collective agenda for development in Benue State.

“Your dedication and commitment to duty have been instrumental in driving our collective agenda for development,” he said.

The governor explained that the decision to extend the holidays reflects his administration’s commitment to the well-being of civil servants. He noted that the extended break will allow workers to celebrate the festive season with their families and attend to their agricultural activities.

“It is also expected that the holiday will afford you time to attend to your various agricultural engagements,” Governor Alia added.

However, the governor instructed that essential services such as financial institutions, security agencies, hospitals, water boards, fire services, telecommunication companies, electricity, and energy providers, among others, should not be interrupted.
