BREAKING: Nigerians stage protest in Abuja over last Saturday’s elections

Senator Ibikunle Amosun is back to the drawing board on how to stop the re-election of Dapo Abiodun as the Governor of Ogun state.

Amosun and his team are drawing lessons for the defeat suffered in Saturday’s Federal election.

None of Amosun’s loyalists or adopted candidates in different political parties got a win – except Gbenga Daniel who is a formidable politician courted by the support of both the Amosun and Abiodun camps

Both camps (Abiodun and Amosun) adopted All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who won the Presidential election in Ogun State.

Amosun is backing African Democratic Congress (ADC) Biyi Otegbeye as the next Governor of Ogun state while Abiodun who seeking re-election as the candidate of the ruling APC. Amosun is also a member of the APC but lost control of the party to Governor Abiodun.

Amosun will get another chance to test his political might against Abiodun on March 11 during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

“He faces an uphill task stopping Abiodun from getting a second term, especially on the heels of the results of Saturday’s election” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Insiders, however, claim Amosun remains undaunted and optimistic he would get the job done.

” Some of the lessons from Saturday’s election were that the aged, unlettered especially in the villages who formed the bulk of his support base were confused about where to append their thumbprints on Saturday. Amosun’s men and adopted candidates contested on different platforms. Some of the voters were even asking for the logo of APM” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

APM (Allied People’s Movement) was the political party adopted by Amosun in 2019 to stop the election of Abiodun for his first term in office.

“Part of the restrategizing ahead of the march 11 election is to let the army of supporters know and understand that ADC is the party of Amosun’s preferred candidate and of course put measures in place to galvanize them and correct other noticed mistakes” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

Newshour gathered that series of meetings, understanding to ensure a better outing than last Saturday’s outing in the upcoming election is ongoing between Amosun and his loyalists and allies.
