With no fuel refined all through 2018, a new report has said that Nigeria was only able to produce 1.46 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) between 2015 and 2019.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The report by the National Bureau of Statistics said that the low quantity of fuel produced across the nation was due to the inactivity of Nigeria’s local refineries.
According to the NBS in its 2023 Petroleum Products Distribution Statistics, that said quantity of fuel produced was never able to meet up with Nigeria’s demand for even two months.
Also, it stated that the nation delivered on the production of 377.9 million litres of fuel in 2015; 1.05 million litres in 2016; 951.56 million in 2017 and 128.1 million litres in 2019.
In addition, between 2020 and 2023, Nigeria was only able to produce kerosene and diesel.
The report added that these two products were produced with the aid of modular refineries because other refineries were moribund leading to the importation of over 30 billion of fuel in 2023.
