BREAKING: Notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji willing to surrender – CDS Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff, (CDS) General Christopher Musa has said that notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji is willing to surrender.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Musa revealed that sustained military operations targeting Turji’s network have severely weakened his influence.

These Operations recently resulted in the elimination of his second-in-command and several top lieutenants, forcing Turji to release many hostages and consider laying down arms.

Musa highlighted the challenges in tracking Turji, describing his movements as unpredictable, which complicates swift military responses to intelligence reports.

However, he noted that the military’s continued pressure has left Turji with limited options, ultimately leading to his decision to surrender.

“They [terrorists] operate within communities, and locals know them. But by the time we receive intelligence, sometimes hours have passed, and the target has already moved. This makes it difficult to act immediately,” Musa explained.

“But I can tell you, we have taken out his second-in-command and most of his top lieutenants. In fact, he has been forced to release many of the people under his control. Recently, he has indicated that he wants no further conflict and is ready to surrender,” he added.

Meanwhile, the CDS avered that despite the development, justice must prevail, as those responsible for violence and the deaths of innocent civilians must be held accountable by law.
