BREAKING: NSCDC Deploys 4,000 Personnel In FCT

The FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has deployed 4,000 personnel across the nation’s capital to ensure the security of lives, property, and critical national assets during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
A statement on Thursday by the command’s acting spokesperson, DSC Monica Ojobi, stated that the deployment will cover key locations, including prayer grounds, shopping malls, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, the City Gate, the Three Arms Zone, government buildings, and diplomatic offices.
Ojobi stated that the officers will also secure vulnerable spots, such as uncompleted buildings known to harbour criminals.
The personnel assigned for this operation include specialised units such as the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, Operation Adkasu, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE), and Counter-Terrorism teams.
Covert officers have also been dispatched for surveillance to prevent unforeseen security threats.
Commandant Odumosu, however, instructed all area commanders and divisional officers to ensure full security coverage across their respective areas and warned that any breaches would not be tolerated.
“All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of security lapse. Ensure your personnel are adequately deployed,” he directed.
He also stressed the need for professionalism and urged officers to collaborate with other security agencies while adhering to rules of engagement.
He warned against harassment, intimidation, and accidental discharge.
The Commandant reassured FCT residents of a peaceful celebration and encouraged them to report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
“My personnel are ready to ensure you have a safe and peaceful celebration, but you also have a role to play by remaining vigilant,” he added.
Odumosu further warned criminals and vandals to stay away from national assets, stating that NSCDC officers are on high alert and will bring offenders to justice.
He also extended his best wishes to the Muslim community in the FCT while praying for the well-being of the nation.
