According to the Daily Post, prominent politician and activist Omoyele Sowore has blasted Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), after Wike revealed that his son had graduated from a UK institution.
According to DAILY POST, Wike shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday that his son, Jordan, had earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from Queen Mary University of London.
The post has sparked a wave of reactions from Nigerians, with many accusing politicians of damaging the country’s education system while sending their children abroad for their studies.
In response, Sowore took to his official X handle to harshly criticize the former Governor of Rivers State.
According to Sowore, after spending many years as a public office holder, the Minister failed to build a school that could admit his son.

Sowore wrote, “Nyesom Wike held the position of local government chairman for two terms, served as Minister of Education for four years, and was the Governor of Rivers State for two terms, accumulating a total of eight years in public office. He is currently the FCT Minister, yet he sends his children to schools in the UK after the destruction of education in Nigeria and with funds stolen from the masses.”
Sowore’s comments have intensified the ongoing debate in Nigeria about the condition of the country’s education system.
Many Nigerians have expressed frustration over the stark disparity between the educational opportunities available to the children of the elite and the deteriorating state of public education, which is often criticized for being underfunded and neglected.

While politicians and leaders frequently send their children abroad for schooling, the majority of Nigerian students struggle with the challenges of the country’s educational infrastructure.
Sowore’s outspoken remarks reflect a broader sentiment among many Nigerians who feel disillusioned by political leaders who prioritize their families’ education abroad, while failing to address the issues facing local educational institutions.
