BREAKING: Obasanjo to Honour Former US President, Jimmy Carter

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is set to host a memorial service in honour of the late former President of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter, on Sunday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Carter, who passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100, was a close ally of Obasanjo. He was the longest-living U.S. president and the first to reach 100 years of age.

The memorial service, scheduled to hold at the Chapel of Christ, The Glorious King, within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, will commence at 9:00 AM. The President of the Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Akanji, will deliver a special sermon during the event.

A statement by Special Assistant on Media to Obasanjo, Kehinde Akinyemi said the former president will also pay tribute to his friend, the 39th President of the United States, with a special address titled “Jimmy Carter: The Departure of a Titan.”
