The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa has made some revelations about the possible cause of the death of Lt. Col. AH Ali and 16 other soldiers in Delta State who reportedly died in a communal clash last week.
The CDS, who acknowledged the late Lieutenant in a statement about the incident, revealed that the latter had insisted that all illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta region must stop in a bid to step up oil production in the country.
Musa revealed that before he was killed, Lt. Col Ali raided illegal bunkering sites in Delta with his troops: a move that must have angered the beneficiaries of the crime.
CDS Musa concluded that the incident was an opportunity for the beneficiaries of oil bunkering in Delta to kill Lt. Col Ali and others who were against them.
Musa submitted that he knows the killers of the soldiers and that they will be arrested soon.
