In a ceremony held at the Eko Hotel, Lagos State, 65 Nigerian women were honoured for their outstanding contributions to various fields, including economics, politics, and social development.
The Women Making Impact Awards, organised by Arise Group, celebrate the achievements of Nigerian women who have broken gender barriers and inspired others to do the same.
The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa was among the awardees, and she expressed her gratitude to Arise Group for the recognition while hailing Nigerian women for breaking barriers.
Other notable recipients included Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Obiageli Ezekwesili, and Jumoke Oduwole, among others.
Receiving her award from former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Musawa praised the strength and resilience of women, highlighting their unique ability to balance sensitivity and courage.
“It is a huge honour for me in a country like Nigeria, where so many women have broken the glass ceiling to be honoured in this way,” Musawa said.
The awards ceremony was attended by dignitaries and stakeholders in various sectors, who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the awardees.
Special Adviser to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Dr. Nneka Anibeze, disclosed in a statement that the award signifies the power and influence of women in Nigeria.
