A 23-year-old man identified as Usman Mohammed has been killed during an attack on a Mosque in Kaduna State by some gunmen.
The Kaduna Police Command said the gunmen launched the attack on the worshipers who were praying in a mosque in Rigasa.
Hassan Mansir, the spokesperson for the police in Kaduna said 12 suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident which occurred at about 2 am on Friday.
According to Mansir, the attackers, fully armed mobilised from from Malalin Gabas, Tudun Wada, Rafin Guza, and Unguwar Baduko areas.
They attacked the worshippers at Layin Bilya, Makwa Road and Rigasa Kaduna.
Mansir stated that the police deployed its officers and some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force to the scene of the incident following a distress call from a resident.
He said that upon their arrival, the attackers had left, after stabbing Mohammed to death with a sharp knife.
Noting that an investigation has been launched into the attack, Mansir said 12 suspects have been arrested and would be thoroughly investigated.
He said, “The Kaduna State Police Command has significantly increased security deployments across strategic areas, particularly around mosques where such prayers are conducted.
“The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to the police to aid in effective crime prevention,” Mansir noted.
