[BREAKING] Osun LG poll: Osun Deputy Gov hails OSSIEC for conducting peaceful election

The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi has praised the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting free, fair and peaceful election in the state, saying the most peaceful and transparent in the history of the state.

Adewusi who, expressed his satisfaction after casting his vote at Ilode ward I, unit 3 at the Saturday local government election. He emphasized the importance of the election in ensuring democratic participation at the local level.

He encouraged the people of the state to actively participate and engage in the voting process to ensure peaceful and credible elections.

According to him, despite federal government opposition against the conduct of the poll citing security reason. This election is the most peaceful election as no electorate is molested. You can you that the election in their large number casting their vote peacefully.

Adewusi stressed further that security men are everywhere to protect electorate and people are ready to defend their votes against political thugs who may want to desrupt the exercise.

The Deputy Governor, expressed his confidence in the electoral process. He highlighted the need for peaceful and orderly voting, encouraging everyone to maintain decorum throughout the election.

He called on security men to always be neutral and maintain peace after the exercise.

Also, Prof. Wale Oladipo, a member of BoT of PDP, express satisfaction with the exercise, stressing electorate are casting their vote peacefully at the unit and entire Ife federal constituency as no report of violence has been reported so far.

“You can’t stay in your home and started complaining without voting, it is the right of every Nigerian to exercise their franchise which government has offered them by voting for candidate of their choice at the local government election to enjoy dividends of democracy at the grassroot.

“People have benefited much from this government within short period of time. We need to vote for good governance. Everywhere is peaceful. I want appreciate Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeni Ogunwusi for ensuring that peace reign in Ile-Ife. He told us to ensure the election is peaceful which we did today”, he said.

“I appreciate the wonderful role the judiciary played in the local government election in the state for ensuring justice reign supreme. This judiciary has further proving that it is the last hope of common man.

“There will be no violence in osun state again, people should allow peace to reign. It is not idea to break into homes, offices to saying you exercising your power. If you have any issue wait for election time, cast your vote to express your grievances instead of resulting into self-help which is not known to the law of the land”, Ladipo declared.

Similarly, at Ilode ward II, Salvation Army Primary school in Ife-East Local Government Area, where the Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperatives and Empowerment, Hon. Durojaye Isaac voted was peaceful as electorate cast their vote. Casting his vote, the Special Adviser described the LG poll as peaceful and credible in the history of the state.

He said Governor Ademola Adeleke allowed electorate to exercise their franchise at the grassroot level, adding this election has further shown sincerity of the state government to true Democratic system at the grassroot.

“This election has revealed that people want Democratic government at the grassroot which provide dividends of democracy to the people. This election is test to lover of democracy at the grassroot level. The people have come out en mass to cast their vote here”, he noted.
