A man identified as Olaleye Abdullahi has been left bedridden after being shot by a policeman, Inspector Moses Momoh, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The incident occurred on December 12, 2024, in front of Matrix Petrol Station, Kara-Berger Road, Ogun State.
Inspector Momoh, reportedly attached to Warewa Police Station, is accused of firing his weapon twice, hitting Abdullahi, who was driving home at the time.
Witnesses claim that the officer was cautioned after the first shot but fired again, injuring Abdullahi.
Family members of the victim alleged that Inspector Momoh was detained for only 24 hours at the Adigboluja Police Station, Ojodu Berger, before being released. Meanwhile, Abdullahi remains hospitalized, with a treatment bill that has climbed to nearly N4 million.
“We demand that all necessary legal measures be taken against Inspector Moses Momoh to ensure justice is served,” the family stated.
They also criticized police authorities for abandoning Abdullahi at a private hospital without assistance.
“The officer responsible for this heinous act must be brought to justice,” a source from the family told Sahara Reporters.
