Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has called for enhanced collaboration between the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state to strengthen security and eliminate criminal elements.
Oyebanji made this appeal on Tuesday when he received Brigadier-General Justin Ifeanyi, the new Brigade Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, who paid a courtesy visit to the governor in Ado-Ekiti.
The governor stressed that such cooperation would complement the efforts of other security operatives already working in the state.
He acknowledged that the synergy between the security agencies had contributed to Ekiti’s reputation as the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
Oyebanji encouraged the new Brigade Commander to build on this existing cooperation, particularly by fostering effective intelligence sharing and coordinating joint operations to combat criminal activities.
While praising the relative peace enjoyed in the state, Oyebanji highlighted that pockets of criminal activity persisted. He underscored the importance of a united approach to address these challenges and ensure that citizens could live and work in safety.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to maintaining the state’s peaceful status, Oyebanji assured the new Brigade Commander of his full support to ensure success in his new role.
Earlier, Brigadier-General Ifeanyi explained that his visit was to formally introduce himself to the governor and to assure him that the Nigerian Army would intensify its efforts to combat criminal activities and ensure continued peace in the state.
