BREAKING: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is reportedly considering Barcelona’s Gavi as a key component in their rebuilding efforts following the potential departure of Kylian Mbappe.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is reportedly eyeing Barcelona midfielder Gavi for their summer transfer plans as they brace for the departure of Kylian Mbappe, according to sources.

Mbappe has communicated his intention to leave PSG this summer, a move that would save the club approximately €200 million (£171 million) annually.

However, a legally binding agreement between Mbappe and the club ensures PSG’s financial protection in the event of his departure, with the player set to return around €80 million (£69 million).

In anticipation of the substantial funds becoming available, PSG has compiled a list of potential targets for the upcoming transfer window, with Barcelona’s Gavi prominently featured, as reported by The Athletic. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Luis Enrique are purportedly admirers of the 19-year-old midfielder, who made his senior debut for Spain under Enrique.

Gavi is currently under contract with Barcelona until 2026, and his deal includes a release clause of €1 billion (£855 million).

While Barcelona considers Gavi as an ‘unsellable asset,’ the club’s well-documented financial challenges may compel them to make challenging decisions during the summer transfer window. Gavi’s stance on a potential transfer is yet to be disclosed.

PSG’s shortlist reportedly comprises various targets across different positions, and the club is expected to actively pursue a new forward to directly replace Mbappe.

Among the candidates are Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, with admiration also directed towards RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
