The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has called on the public to collaborate with the Police in the fight against crime and criminality in the country.

The PCRC made the call at a youth and women rally in commemoration of the PCRC 41st anniversary celebration in Abuja on Wednesday.

The rally and sensitization, which kicked off at the PCRC secretariat, beside Jabi Park Abuja, saw the PCRC members move round Abuja, calling for the support of the police in information gathering and whistle blowing in order to tackle crime effectively.

National President of PCRC, Alhaji Ibrahim Mogaji Olaniyan, while speaking at the event, said that war against crime should not be left in the hands of the police alone, adding that all hands must be on the deck to fight for crime reduction.

He said the committee would continue to support the police because they were aware that the service alone cannot fight crime in the society.

He also revealed that the PCRC has passed a vote of confidence on the inspector-general of police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun as he has performed well as the police head since his assumption of office.

Also speaking, Engr. Junard Victor, PCRC national youth coordinator called for good working relationship with the Nigeria Police Force and pledged total support for the IGP.

Also, PCRC head of national woman committee, Bar. Maimumat Umar Sheriff urged women to train their children well in order to reduce crimes in the society.

She further called for provision of information to the police to carry out their duties, noting that “we have been assisting the security agencies in our way and this is one of the ways we want to support the Nigeria Police by sensitising the public on the things to do.”
