Dr. Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed regret for the remark he made after observing some Yoruba people begging for food.
This is in response to a video he uploaded on his official X profile with several Yoruba folks pleading for food. He posted the video on his page and expressed his disgust at seeing his countrymen engaging in such behavior. It will be hard to see the Igbo people behave that way, Segun Showunmi continued.
However, after he made the statement, there were mixed reactions from many of his supporters online. Segun Showunmi has now apologized for his statement. In a post that he shared on his official X handle on Tuesday, he took responsibility of his words. He said he was so upset seeing the ugly event.
He wrote on his page;
“I am very sorry and I apologize most profusely that my words were harsh and insensitive to our people. Do forgive me. I was just so upset seeing the ugly event. I am sorry”.
