Governors under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have backed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s control of the party’s structure in the state.
The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, made the announcement during a meeting with Fubara, who had visited to offer condolences on the passing of Mohammed’s stepmother.
Mohammed praised Fubara for his strategic leadership.
“We have no qualms against anybody,” Governor Mohammed said. He, therefore, urged all loyal party members to respect the dictates of time in their respective domains to remain united as a strong opposition platform.
The governor added that Fubara’s control of the PDP structure in Rivers is necessary for the balance of power and a reflection of the ideals of democracy. “All the governors are with you,” he added.
Fubara, who serves as the vice-chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, expressed his gratitude to Mohammed and all PDP governors for their solidarity and support.
Fubara has been embroiled in a battle for control of the PDP in Rivers State with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Recall that last week, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP reaffirmed its recognition of the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive, which is loyal to Fubara.
