Pep Guardiola has once again addressed the worrying scratches and marks on his head and nose, which have been causing concern amid Manchester City’s poor run of form.
Guardiola has spotted visible red marks on his face in recent times, as he faces arguably his most challenging period as a manager.
Manchester City’s loss of form under Guardiola
Manchester City have only won one game in their last 10 attempts, which has seen them slip to fifth place in the Premier League table. They are also facing the risk of failing to make it out of the Champions League league phase.
Guardiola first talked about his marks after City blew away a three-goal lead against Feyenoord to draw 3-3. He made a joke about ‘wanting to kill himself’ before later apologising for making fun of self-harm.
Guardiola explains the marks on his head
The 53-year-old has now revealed that he has a skin condition that makes him want to scratch himself often.
“I have a skin problem. I have had to take antihistamines for the last two or three years. The nails, yes, I did them on my nose. But the rest was that” he said on Amazon Prime Italy via GMS.
Guardiola: I have sleeping problems
The former Barcelona manager also admitted to sleeping problems but expressed confidence that Manchester City’s current slump in form would pass.
“I sleep badly and I don’t digest, I always have to eat light. Only soup in the evening. I am the same as I was five months ago. The one who had won the championship, and I don’t go against my state of mind. If my state of mind is ugly…it is ugly. But I know it will pass.”
Guardiola’s side will welcome their eternal rivals, Manchester United, on Sunday, looking to stay within touching distance of league leaders Liverpool, who are now nine points ahead.
Manchester City players ‘could talk to agents’
Legit has also reported that a Premier League legend believes Manchester City players might consider speaking to their agents due to ongoing uncertainty. The club has struggled with poor form this season and awaits a verdict on 115 charges filed by the Premier League.
