BREAKING: Petrol Price Drops in Filling Stations Nationwide — Relief for Nigerians

Petrol prices in certain areas of Abuja and its surroundings have decreased to ₦1,295 per litre, as filling stations modify their rates to attract more customers.

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, numerous filling stations have lowered their pump prices from ₦1,330 to ₦1,295 per litre, reflecting a ₦35 reduction.

Stations such as AA Rano, Ranoil, and Mobil across the Federal Capital Territory have implemented this price adjustment.

The new pricing aligns these outlets with other key players in the downstream sector, including Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), MRS, AP Ardova, and NIPCO, which have been offering petrol within the range of ₦1,290 to ₦1,295 in recent weeks.

In response to this development, Abubakar Maigandi, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, stated that the price reduction is a result of increased competition within the market.

“It is required to boost patronage,” he told Daily Post.

Fuel prices have remained relatively stable since April 9, 2026, despite fluctuations in global crude oil prices.

Market data on Friday showed that West Texas Intermediate crude stood at $94 per barrel, while Brent crude traded at $105 per barrel, amid uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
