In a bid to foster peace and stability in the Niger Delta region, Chief Dennis Otuaro, PhD, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), on Tuesday, engaged in a crucial meeting with Major A. E. Ohegbe, Commanding Officer of the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, at the Effurun Barrack in Delta State.

The meeting aimed at enhancing collaboration between the Presidential Amnesty Program and the Nigerian Army to address security challenges in the region.

During the meeting, Chief Otuaro emphasized the importance of synergy between the Amnesty Program and the military in ensuring the success of peace-building initiatives in the Niger Delta. He reiterated the commitment of the program to achieving lasting peace and development by integrating ex-agitators into society through various empowerment and training schemes.

Major A. E. Ohegbe commended the efforts of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in promoting peace and reconciliation in the Niger Delta. He pledged the support of the Nigerian Army in providing security and creating a conducive environment for the implementation of development projects in the region.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss strategies for addressing emerging security threats and promoting community engagement initiatives.
