BREAKING: Police Arrest Fleeing Killer Of 65-Year-Old Jane Okoye (Photo)

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of Abubakar Iliyasu, the prime suspect in the murder of 65-Year-Old Jane Okoye, who was killed in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos on April 2, 2025.

A statement by the spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Sunday, disclosed that Iliyasu was apprehended by detectives from the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, after being tracked to Ankpa, Kogi State.

According to the police, the suspect had “forcibly gained access to the victim’s premises and fled with her Toyota Sienna vehicle.”

Okoye was found unconscious and rushed to a medical facility, where she was later pronounced dead.

The statement added, “Following the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for a discreet and thorough investigation, a team of homicide detectives promptly swung into action, deploying both intelligence and technical resources to get the suspect apprehended and recover the stolen property.”

Police stated that their efforts yielded success when Iliyasu was located in Kogi State and arrested.

“The vehicle was recovered in good condition and has since been secured as evidence in the ongoing investigation,” the statement noted.

The suspect is currently being held at SCID, Yaba, where he is said to be cooperating with investigators.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohunde Jimoh, assured the public that justice would be served.

“The suspect will be prosecuted after the investigation,” Hundeyin stated, emphasising that the command “remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property in Lagos State.”
