
A staff of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital Yola, Abubakar Umar has been kidnapped alongside three others.
The State Police Command while confirming the incident said Umar who is popularly known as Haske and the other victims were kidnapped in Mayokila Village, Mapeo District in Jada local government area of Adamawa State.
According to the state’s Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, some yet-to-identified gunmen invaded the community at about 1.30 pm on Monday, February 17.
Morris noted that the criminals shot sporadically into the air, leading residents to scamper for safety while they kidnapped the victims.
He added that the command received a distress call from a resident of the community at about 3.30 pm and some officers were deployed from the command’s operational manpower and assets to boost the capacity of Divisional Police Officer, Kojoli Division.
Morris also said that a tactical search and rescue operation is currently ongoing to ensure that the criminals are arrested and the victims are rescued unhurt
He called for collaboration with residents of the community and other villages nearby to ensure the police achieve success in the operation.
