BREAKING: Police Dismantle Criminal Syndicates, Recover 134 Arms1012  Ammunitions, Rescue 302 Kidnap Victims

The Nigeria Police Force has achieved notable success in its efforts to reduce crime, having arrested 179 individuals suspected of armed robbery, 100 suspected kidnappers, and 152 homicide suspects.

During this period, the force also apprehended 34 individuals linked to the illegal possession of prohibited firearms, 77 suspects of rape, and 110 suspected cult members. They recovered 73 various firearms, 310 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, as well as 56 stolen vehicles and rescued 22 kidnapping victims across the country.

In a press briefing at the FID-IRT headquarters on 22nd January 2024, Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi provided further details on these operational successes, highlighting “the arrest of Muhammed Kabir, 36, and other members of his gang, including Donald Okpere and Haruna Ibrahim.”

ACP Olumuyiwa further stated, “The gang operates by impersonating military personnel and defrauding victims of millions of naira through fake payment alerts after purchasing gadgets and medical equipment.”

“Additionally, operatives arrested Sunday Okwo Ade, Monday Solomon, David Emmanuel, and Shakiru Badmus, who are part of a well-known gang that specialises in stealing motorcycles from farmers in various communities in Lagos and Ogun States. A total of 15 motorcycles were recovered from this gang.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to the core principle of policing: safeguarding the lives and property of the general public and creating an enabling environment for citizens to carry out their daily activities peacefully. The Force will continue to pursue criminal elements and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the laws of our country.”
