BREAKING: Police fire teargas as protest rocks National Assembly

A protest is currently rocking the National Assembly complex in Abuja as police officers used tear gas to disperse supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The demonstrators had gathered at the assembly gate early Wednesday morning, just as plenary was about to begin.
The protesters, who arrived around 8 a.m., were met with strong resistance from security personnel.
Without much delay, the police fired tear gas canisters to break up the crowd, forcing them to retreat.
The group later regrouped at the Unity Fountain, continuing their demonstration from a new location.
The protest comes amid a brewing political dispute involving Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate.
She recently had a heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements during a session on February 20.
Following the altercation, she was referred to the Senate’s disciplinary committee.
In response to the situation, Akpoti-Uduaghan filed a N100 billion defamation lawsuit against Akpabio.
She later accused him of tarnishing her reputation and targeting her for rejecting his alleged advances.
