A police Corporal Ebuka Okonkwo, with Force No. 527324 has been demoted to the rank of Constable.
Okonkwo’s demolition followed an approval by the commissioner of police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, a statement by the command’s public relations office, Maureen Chinaka said on Tuesday, January 7.
According to Chinaka, the demoted corporal previously served at the Aba Area Command and was on a special duty in Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area.
Okonkwo was said to have been found guilty of discreditable and unprofessional conduct following an administrative trial by the Nigeria Police Force.
The police spokesperson stated that the sanctions against teh demoted office is a reflection of the command’s effort towards upholding ethical standards within the force.
“The Commissioner of Police emphasized the Command’s zero-tolerance policy for any form of unprofessional conduct among officers that could tarnish the good image of the Force.
“Members of the public are also encouraged to report any unprofessional conduct by officers to the Complaint Response Unit Abia Command via 09031593827,” Chinaka said.
She also stated that the CP disbanded the Anti-Cultism Unit of the command following allegations of misconduct by the public.
Chinaka added that the CP has always emphasised his commitment to professionalism during operations and tours by officers of the Force.
