BREAKING: Presidency Defends Tinubu’s Continued Absence, Assures Nigerians He’s Still in Charge from London
Reacting to growing criticism over President Bola Tinubu’s continued absence from the country, the presidency says he remains fully in charge, and continues to oversee national affairs from abroad
A statement by Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga confirmed that the President has since left Paris for London and is maintaining constant communication with top government officials including issuing directives to security chiefs on emerging threats.
The presidency also says his absence remains within the earlier communicated two-week timeline.
It adds that his return to Abuja and resumption of duties at the Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday and thanked Nigerians for their concern and assured that government business remains uninterrupted.
The statement read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe.
His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.
The President left Paris for London at the weekend and has maintained constant communication with key government officials, overseeing critical national matters, including directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in some parts of the country.
His return to Abuja and the resumption of duties at Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday.”
The President left Nigeria on April 2 for a working visit to Paris, with the State House initially saying he would be away for about a fortnight.
