The Presidency has raised an alarm over the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, announcing plans to evacuate Nigerian citizens from Lebanon.
The development follows the launch of hundreds of missiles by Iran at Israel, in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
The conflict between Israel and Iran reached a new high on Tuesday, prompting global concern. Israel’s military spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, has vowed to take action in response to the “serious attack”. This latest escalation follows a previous attack in April, where Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles toward Israel.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 1, the Presidency directed Nigerians living in Lebanon to contact the Nigerian mission for profiling, documentation, and eventual evacuation.
Dada Olusegun, President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on social media, announced the development in a tweet on Tuesday night.
Alert! All Nigerians in Lebanon are expected to get in touch with the Nigerian mission for profiling and documentation and subsequent evacuation.
