
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the historic 2025 Budget of Restoration, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s economic recovery, stability, and growth.
With an unprecedented ₦54.99 trillion allocation, the budget prioritizes national security, infrastructure, human capital development, agriculture, and social welfare.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s recent economic progress, citing a GDP growth rebound to 3.86 per cent, increased revenue of ₦21.6 trillion, and a reduced fiscal deficit from 6.2.pre cent in 2023 to 4.17 per cent in 2025.
“This budget is bold, ambitious, and necessary,” He stated. “But let me be clear: we cannot spend what we do not have.
We will not burden future generations with reckless borrowing. Instead, we will expand revenues, strengthen public-private partnerships, and ensure prudent spending.”
The budget includes ₦6.11 trillion for national security, the highest defence allocation in Nigeria’s history, as well as ₦5.99 trillion for infrastructure projects, such as the 750km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the 1,068km Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway.
Other key allocations include ₦5.70 trillion for healthcare and education, ₦3.73 trillion for food security, and ₦723.68 billion for social welfare programs.
The President commended the National Assembly for passing the budget in record time and pledged close collaboration to ensure smooth implementation.
“A budget is not just numbers—it is a promise,” the President declared. “With hard work, discipline, and faith, we will restore our economy, rebuild our nation, and secure a brighter future for every Nigerian.”
The 2025 budget signals a renewed commitment to economic stability, responsible governance, and inclusive growth, positioning Nigeria for sustained prosperity in the years ahead.
