Human rights advocate and attorney Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu responded recently to former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s praise of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance. Buhari made these comments while speaking with Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, who paid him a visit at his Katsina State home.
SAHARA REPORTERS state that Buhari expressed satisfaction with Tinubu’s administration’s abilities to stabilize the situation and show sincere concern for Nigerians. “I am really pleased that they are able to stabilize the situation and continue to show genuine concern for Nigerians,” the man said. Their performance has me utterly thrilled.”
However, Chidi Odinkalu offered a different perspective on Buhari’s statement. In a post shared on his official platform, he suggested that Buhari’s satisfaction with Tinubu’s performance stems from Tinubu’s ability to make him appear competent. Odinkalu wrote, “Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari says he is very happy with the performance of his successor, president Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is not difficult to see why: Tinubu makes Buhari look like a genius.”
