The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran (Jandor), has officially resigned from the party, citing internal sabotage and lack of discipline within its leadership.
Jandor made this announcement at a press briefing in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, where he criticized some PDP leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Olabode George, for allegedly working against the party during the 2023 elections.
Jandor’s Statement on His Resignation
Speaking on his decision, Jandor said:
“I stand before you today with a heavy heart but a clear conscience. The leadership of the PDP, both at the state and national levels, has failed to uphold the principles of democracy, good governance, and discipline. The persistent anti-party activities and internal betrayals have made it impossible for genuine progress to be achieved.”
He further alleged that Bode George openly supported another party’s governorship candidate just days before the 2023 elections.
“A few days to the election, the supposed leader of the PDP in Lagos State, Olabode George, declared support for another party’s gubernatorial candidate in a press conference and advised Lagosians not to vote for PDP.”
Jandor added that despite lodging complaints to the PDP at the national level, the party did nothing to sanction those involved in anti-party activities. Instead, Bode George was appointed Vice Chairman of a disciplinary committee, further proving, according to Jandor, that the party rewards disloyalty.
“We have waited this long, but what we see is that the same leaders who worked against the party are now holding key positions.”
He assured his supporters that he would continue to fight for Lagosians, despite his exit from PDP, and promised to announce his next political move soon.
Bode George Reacts, Calls Jandor “Undignified”
In response to Jandor’s accusations, Olabode George dismissed him as “an undignified fellow.”
“I will not respond to him. He is a boy, and my children are not his age mates.”
George also denied Jandor’s claim that he was part of any PDP disciplinary committee, calling it a lie.
“It is those who brought him into the party that should be ashamed. He is not what they painted him to be. It is good riddance to bad rubbish.”
