BREAKING: Remi Tinubu Commissions Digital Economy Centre, E-Learning Facilities in Ogbomoso

The wife of Nigeria’s President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has, on Tuesday, alongside the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Renewed Hope Initiative, commissioned and handed over a Digital Economy Centre (DEC) and E-Learning Facilities at Ogbomoso Girls High School in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

Representing Senator Tinubu, Engr Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, wife of the Oyo State Governor, expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort.

She emphasized the significance of providing access to technology for women and girls, saying, “the event was a collaborative effort of the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Tinubu and NITDA to provide access to technology for women and girls.”

She reiterated the importance of the collaborative efforts between Renewed Hope and NITDA, stressing the necessity of ensuring women’s participation in the tech-driven landscape to prevent marginalization.

She highlighted the impact of the initiative on economic growth, innovation, and social progress.

Her words: “This initiative is a strategic move to ensure that our women are not left behind in the rapidly evolving tech-driven landscape, shaping communication, commerce, education, and welfare.

“The center demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to equitable education access across the nation.
“The Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with NITDA under the National Digital Gender Inclusion Strategy will be extending support to equip more Centers in the remaining states of the federation, Mrs. Makinde stated

While also speaking, the Principal of Ogbomoso Girls High School in Ogbomoso, Mrs. Zainab Adeola Odekunle expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its transformative impact on students’ learning experiences.

She said: “This Digital Economy Centre will inspire our students to dream big and maximize the learning advantages offered by this facility.”

Also speaking, Olubunmi Olufunke Oni, the Oyo State Head of Service commended the initiative for empowering youth through technology-enabled education.

Oni stated, “This initiative is an evidence to the commitment of Senator Tinubu and NITDA to empower our youth through technology-enabled education.”

Also, the Commissioner of Works, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin emphasized the Digital Economy Centre’s significance as a hub for learning and positive change.

He remarked, “The Digital Economy Centre marks a milestone in our efforts to harness technology for positive change.”

The Commissioner of Education, Prof. Salihu Adelabu echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the importance of integrating technology into education.

He said: “This idea tells the importance of integrating technology into education to prepare our students for the future.”

Other notable figures present included Alhaja Faosat Joke Sanni, Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Bisi Oluranti Oyewo-Micheal, Member of the Oyo State Assembly representing Ogbomoso North, Mr. Adebayo Akande, Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on ICT, among other dignitaries.
