BREAKING: Reps order removal of 24 ministries, agencies from 2025 budget

The House of Representatives has proposed removing several government agencies and institutions from the 2025 federal budget.

The removal is due to their failure to account for previous funds and internally generated revenue.

The recommendation was made during a special session of the Public Accounts Committee in Abuja, where repeated non-compliance by these agencies to attend hearings or submit financial reports was addressed.

The committee disclosed that excluding these agencies from the budget would pressure them to provide the necessary clarifications and comply with financial regulations.

This decision is aimed at enforcing accountability and ensuring public funds are properly utilized.

A total of 24 ministries, departments, and agencies were flagged for non-compliance.

Some of the affected MDAs recommended for delisting from the 2025 budget include:

1. National Examinations Council (NECO)

2. University of Ibadan (UI)

3. Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment

4. Nigeria Police Force

5. Federal Medical Centre, Bida

6. Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria

7. Department of Information and Communication Technology

8. Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba

9. Federal College of Education, Yola

10. Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe
