A drama unfolded at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday when Governor Siminalayi Fubara arrived to present the 2025 budget, only to find the entrance gate locked.
Channels Television reported that security personnel at the complex had secured the gates, obstructing the governor’s convoy from entering.
This refusal to admit the governor was based on the assertion that there had been no official communication between him and the Assembly.
However, Fubara countered that he had notified Speaker Martins Amaewhule of his visit via a letter and had attempted to reach him by phone since Tuesday.
