The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced August 9, 2025, as the date for new Local Government Council Elections in the state.
RSIEC chairman, retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, made the announcement on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the commission’s headquarters on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
The event also marked the official unveiling of the 2025 Local Government Elections timetable and guidelines.
Addressing political stakeholders, Justice Enebeli assured that RSIEC remains committed to conducting a free, fair, and credible election.
He urged all political parties to strictly adhere to the electoral rules and guidelines.
