Newly appointed Rwanda coach, Adel Amarouche, has assured fans that his team will achieve “something special” as they prepare for a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The Algerian tactician recently took charge of the Amavubis, who currently lead Group C of the qualifiers, which includes Nigeria, Benin, South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.
Speaking after assuming his role, Amarouche expressed confidence in his squad’s potential. “We should believe we can do something special,” he said. “I will do all my best to achieve, but I alone do not have the magic wand. Together, we will make Rwanda the best in Africa.”
Rwanda, who sit atop Group C with seven points—level with South Africa and Benin but ahead on goal difference—will host Nigeria in Kigali on March 21. Lesotho follow in fourth with five points, while Nigeria is in fifth place with three points. Zimbabwe sits at the bottom with two points, making the group highly competitive.
