BREAKING: Security Operatives Arrest Notorious Kidnapper, Recover Vehicle of Abducted Anambra Lawmaker

Security operatives in Anambra have made a significant breakthrough by arresting a notorious kidnapper known as Pablo Mamu, a 38-year-old from Ughelli in Delta State.

According to a statement from SP Ikenga Tochukwu, spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, the operation led to the recovery of an OFN rifle, a locally made pistol, a live 9mm ammunition, eight live cartridges, and a black Lexus 330 jeep with two different plate numbers: ABJ 159 LC from Abuja and JRV 928 SX from Enugu.

Ikenga elaborated on the operation, revealing that a Joint Security Team, comprising police officers and members of the Anambra Vigilante Group, acted on credible intelligence. They successfully stormed the hideout of the suspect, where the recovered items were found during a thorough search.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the collaboration between law enforcement and the vigilant public in gathering actionable intelligence. He stressed the ongoing need for teamwork to ensure the safety and security of all residents, especially during the festive season.

In a separate development, Ikenga reported, “Following an intense ongoing operation, police operatives from the Inland Town Division have recovered the vehicle belonging to Mr Justice Azuka, the Honourable State House of Assembly member for Onitsha North Constituency. He was kidnapped on the evening of 24 December 2024, around 9:20 PM, while returning home on Ugwunapampa Road, Onitsha, by unidentified assailants.

“The rescue team discovered the abandoned vehicle at Upper Iweka Road.”

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has urged the deployed rescue team to intensify their efforts to ensure the safe return of the Honourable member.
