BREAKING: Security tight at National Assembly as Tinubu sets to present 2025 budget

There is tight security presence at the National Assembly complex following the scheduled presentation of the 2025 appropriation bill by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, December 18.

Recall that the president had earlier been scheduled to present the budget on Tuesday but the activity was postponed due to undisclosed reasons.

However, at Tuesday’s plenary, the House of Representatives whose facility would be used for the budget presentation had suspended its extant rules to admit the president and his team.

A motion moved by Julius Ihonvbere will also admit senators into the Lower Chamber for the joint session.

In addition, all business operators and other service providers including banks within the National Assembly have been told not to open for business today.

In a memo, the management of the National Assembly also urged visitors and non-essential staff of the complex to remain home until after the presentation of the budget.

Those allowed into the complex would be only stafff on essential duty and a few accredited journalists.

The joint session would be presided over by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio alongside the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.
