The decision, which takes effect on March 6, 2025, was based on the recommendation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct. According to the committee’s chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, Akpoti-Uduaghan was found guilty of violating Senate rules.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central has been at the center of controversy in recent weeks. The dispute began after a seating arrangement clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio. “This Senate operates under established rules and procedures. Violations of these principles cannot be overlooked,” Imasuen said during plenary.
