Former Abia State Governor and Senator for Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of retired Lieutenant General Jeremiah Useni, the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
General Useni, a distinguished military officer and statesman, died on Thursday at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.
In a statement, Senator Kalu praised the late General as a patriotic leader who devoted his life to the service of Nigeria. He emphasised that General Useni’s death represents a monumental loss, not only to his family but also to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and the nation as a whole.
“Lt General Jeremiah Useni was a selfless leader whose contributions to the development of Nigeria, particularly during his time as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, cannot be forgotten. His commitment to the unity and progress of the nation was remarkable,” Kalu said.
The Senator extended his condolences to the Useni family, the people of Plateau State, and the Nigerian Armed Forces. He prayed for God to grant the family and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, and he asked for divine comfort to guide them in the difficult days ahead.
“The nation has lost a great statesman, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” Kalu added.
