Members of the House of Representatives has expressed sorrow over the passing of one of their own, Oriyomi Onanuga who passed on Wednesday, January 15.
The lawmakers described the late Onanuga as a dedicated public servant, a visionary leader, and a passionate advocate for her constituents.
The late lawmaker until her death represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State. She also served as the deputy chief whip of the House of Representatives.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson for the House, Akin Rotimi, the late Onanuga during her time championed policies that positively affected women and advanced social welfare for Nigerians.
Describing Onanuga as one who played her role as the deputy chief whip with a show of immense intellect and passion, Rotimi said the late lawmaker would be missed.
He said, “Her impactful contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape reflected her passion for creating a better society and her tireless dedication to public service.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, associates, the Government and People of Ogun State – particularly the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North constituency – and the entire membership of the National Assembly,” he added.
While praying for the repose of her soul, Rotimi said funeral arrangements would be announced by Onanuga’s family in due course.
