Senator Shehu Sani, a former senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has reacted to the reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Dangote Refinery recently announced a reduction in the price of the product from N970 to N899.50 per litre.
According to Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, the reduction is aimed at alleviating “transport costs during this holiday season.”
However, Sani expressed skepticism about the move.
“People are so exhausted even if petrol is reduced by N50 they just look and move on,” he wrote on social media.
Sani’s reaction highlights the widespread frustration among Nigerians regarding the country’s economic policies.
The present administration’s policies, such as unifying the exchange rate and removing the petrol subsidy, have led to inflation. Many Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet, and a N50 reduction in petrol price may not be enough to make a significant difference.
