BREAKING: Shehu Sani Responds After Lawmakers Introduce Bill To Return Nigeria To Parliamentary System Of Govt

After 60 members of the House of Representatives proposed three bills to bring Nigeria back to a parliamentary system of government, former senator Shehu Sani, who served as the representative of the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, replied.

Senator Shehu Sani responded by stating that the measure in the house of representatives to put Nigeria back under a parliamentary style of government is a pointless endeavor. He continued by stating that politicians ought to be aware that a constitutional change is necessary to address this issue.

Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle, while reacting to the move that was made by the lawmakers.

He wrote: “The Bill before the Reps to return Nigeria to parliamentary system is an exercise in futility.They should know that this is a matter for constitutional amendment that must go through the rigorous phases of constitutional amendment.”

Recall that it was recently reported that 60 members of the House of Representatives introduced three bills, seeking to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, to transition from the current presidential system to parliamentary system at all levels; federal, state and local government.
