BREAKING: Six Die in Multiple Road Crashes on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Six persons have been confirmed dead following multiple accidents that occurred around FIDIWO along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, some of those who survived the accident sustained varying degrees of injuries while the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to Concise News by Chief Route Commander Florence Okpe, the FRSC Public Education Officer for Sector Commander FRSC Ogun

The statement read in part, “The first crash occurred at the early hours of today on Lagos-Ibadan expressway around FIDIWO at about 0340hrs.

“A total of 04 persons were involved in a crash and all male adult. 02 persons were recorded death and 02 were injured .

“Vehicle involved 02 with registration number GBJ915XA Toyota bus and the second vehicle has no registration number but a Golf car.

“The suspected cause of the crash were wrongful overtaking, Speed and the vehicle loss control and crash . The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere while the corpses were deposited at FOS MORGUE IPARA

“The second crash occurred at about 0518 hrs this morning on Ore- Ijebu-ode section of the expressway after Ajede junction. 01 vehicle was involved with registration number RBC213XT Toyota Hiace bus .

“A total of 20 persons were involved ( 5 male adult,09 female adult, 02 male children and 04 female children) 17 people sustained injury ( 09 female adult, 03 male adult, 03female children and 02 male children). While 03 Persons died from the crash ( 02 male adult and 01 female child)

“The cause of the lone crash was speed and fatigue .

“The injured victims were taken to ROONA HOSPITAL and General Hospital Ijebu-ode while the corpses were deposited at the General Hospital morgue.

“The third crash occurred at about 0200hrs on Ore-Ijebu-ode expressway after Ajebamidele bridge. 29 people were involved (17 male adult and 12 female adult) 02 persons were injured and 01 male adult was recorded death while 26 people were unhurt. 02 vehicles were involved with registration number TRE265XB IVECO TRUCK and a Luxury bus with no number on it.

“The cause of the crash was Road obstruction on the part of the truck and the bus rammed into the stationary truck that was wrongly parked.

“The injured victims were taken to Olaolu clinic Ajebandele and the corpse deposited at the morgue.

“The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Sector Command CC ANTHONY UGA advised motorists to drive cautiously and have enough rest to avoid fatigue. He also sympathize with the family of the crash victims.”
