Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, will remain in detention at the Kuje Correctional Centre after the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned its ruling on his application for bail restoration.
Justice Mohammed Umar, who is presiding over the criminal case brought against the activist by the Department of State Services (DSS), announced on Wednesday that he will deliver his decision on June 30, 2026.
The trial centers on a social media post where Sowore referred to President Bola Tinubu as “a criminal.”
During the court session, Sowore’s lawyer, R.O. Adakole, who stood in for lead counsel Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), pleaded with the judge to release the activist to his legal team while they await the final ruling.
Adakole pointed out that his client has a clean track record of showing up for his trial, stating that Sowore had consistently appeared before the court and had never jumped bail since the commencement of proceedings.
Justice Umar rejected the request, stating that he needed to carefully study the affidavits and other legal papers already filed before making any decision on the matter.
The decision to keep the activist behind bars follows the controversial revocation of his bail on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, after he missed a scheduled court session.
Favor As Higher Power?
(The hidden truth)
Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
