The Kano State government on Saturday warned chairmen of the 44 local government areas of the state to stop all forms of illegal selling of government properties or risk their seats.
The state Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, issued the government’s stern warning to the chairmen following reports that the chairmen have allegedly engaged in the illicit sale of government assets, including farms, plots of land, shops, and residential properties.
In a statement by the Public Relations Officer, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai, warned the chairmen to immediately cease any unauthorized sale of government properties within their domain across the state.
According to the statement, “The state Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, delivered a strong message, warning that the government will take decisive action against anyone found guilty of selling government properties.
“Comrade Gwarzo revealed that an intelligent team has been dispatched to various local government areas to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the unauthorized sale of government properties.

“He urged members of the public to augment the government’s efforts by reporting any instances of individuals selling government properties across the state such as Farm land, Grazing Land, Government Houses, Market Stalls and shops as well as landed Properties.
“According to him, the collaborative approach is crucial in ensuring the preservation of public assets and upholding the rule of law.
“He assured that the Kano State Government remains committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and the protection of public resources, affirming that any individual found culpable in this illicit activity will face the full force of the law,” the statement however reads.
