The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that Ramadan will officially begin on Saturday.
The declaration was made after verified reports confirmed the sighting of the moon in various parts of the country. The Sultan urged Muslims to commence fasting and devote themselves to worship throughout the holy month.
He also called on Nigerians to pray for the peace and progress of the nation, stressing the need for unity and compassion during this sacred period.
Additionally, he appealed to traders to lower food prices to ease the burden on families and encouraged support for the less privileged, ensuring they can observe the fast comfortably.
