Super Eagles star Tolu Arokodare scored his 20th goal of the season to lead Genk to a 4-0 win over Gent in the Belgian League playoffs.

Arokodare, who made his Super Eagles debut against Rwanda in the closing moments of the game continued his impressive form for Genk with his 18th league goal of the season.

It was a battle between two Nigerian players as Jordan Torunarigha featured for Gent but he was unable to stop his international teammate from scoring.

Torunarigha played the whole duration of the encounter as a defender for Gent.

Konstantinos Karetsas gave Genk the lead in the 38th minute before Tolu Arokodare added the second goal with a low finish to make it 2-0.

Hgoh added two second half goals to wrap up the victory to give the hosts a healthy advantage going into the second leg.

Arokodare has been a shining star for Genk in all competitions this season, scoring goals consistently to lead the team to the top of the Belgian league table in the regular season.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club with top clubs in Italy , Germany, and France reportedly Interested in signing him in the summer.

In France, Moses Simon scored his seventh goal of the season for Nantes in the 3-2 defeat to Le Havre in a Ligue 1 encounter.

He has now scored seven goals, and recorded eight assists in the Ligue 1 for Nantes.

Gabriel Osho was inaction for 90 minutes as Auxerre defeated Montpellier 1-0.

In Italy, Ademola Lookman endured a frustrating outing as Fiorentina defeated Atalanta 1-0 to dent their Serie A title hopes.
